GoDaddy and WordPress slow?

I'm in the process to upload all the content on an company website in WordPress. When the site was static it load really fast but now that I put WordPress (it's always going to be a little bit slower) it's running slow as in it takes a 5 second to show anything on the page after clicking on the link. I dont know if its GoDaddy does not work well with WordPress or the server itself. I know I have a few more things to make the website run faster as in smaller images and linking javascript to only the pages it needed beside that then I don't know what else its it needs to be.

Hosting - Shared - Deluxe - Linux is the GoDaddy plan its under.

Make sure the hosting service from godaddy is set for a "Linux" environment, as the windows one tends to be painfully slow for wordpress sites.

(Edit, just re-read your post,..... make sure the DB has no duplicates,.... )
