OrsenPike
I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop from 2009 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 (256MB) graphics card and was wondering which of the following drivers I should be using with Windows 8. http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/catalystlegacywin8.aspx or http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx I am a little confused as they both seem to be the same thing although the downloads are different versions. I figure the 13.1 (being the higher version number) is the best to use although they both seem to provide the same version display driver (8.97.100.7). Any advice is welcome. Cheers! AMD provides legacy drivers that only go up to a certain driver version. Every other update done to these legacy packs is usually just the CCC panel. Chances of installing an official driver which is new are very very slim. Your only option besides installing the legacy driver is to install Leshcats latest driver. (there might be other modded drivers but this one has certifications which you need for windows 8) Catalyst 13.6 beta 2. He mods the ini for switchable graphic cards Intel + AMD. But if you just have a fixed card it should also work. http://leshcatlabs.net/ I have checked the latest package and your card is in the ini files for Windows 8. Your chip is old enough anything newer would make no difference whatsoever, and the bottom one is for other cards.
