firey
I have lots that I don't know. I don't really "Admit" to them either.1) I have only ever overclocked my video card using ATI-Tool. I have no clue how to go about overclocking my processor or anything2) I don't understand hardware (not what each component does, but how they interact). Like how does graphics memory get filled, and how is it used3) I don't understand a lot of programming concepts game wise (pipelining, servicing, etc). 4) I don't understand how tFlops, and various other Graphics related specs work, and what effect they have. I am a software developer, and I am darn good at it. But there are plenty of tech related things I don't fully understand, and more often than not find myself on Wikipedia looking things up. +Warwagon MVC Posted August 2, 2013 MVC Share Posted August 2, 2013 Back in around 1995 I saw an External touch pad for a desktop and I thought it was soooo cool. I wanted one to replace my mouse. I soon learned how worthless it was compared to an actual mouse. Still the case today. margrave, +Matthew S. and Dick Montage 3 Share

Still the case today. still hate touchpads to this day... to me the only touchpad is a Wacom pad.... and that is just to supplement a mouse when doing graphics work my problem is learning stuff as fast as it changes... there is just too much to keep up with at times when you are a developer... always love you spend 10yrs on a project tell someone about it then get comments like "what? why didn't you guys do that in MVC?" well we started it 10yrs ago...... sometimes I feel like people port projects to the newest dev models just to have something to do... margrave 1 Share

Atomic Wanderer Chicken
I am hording lots of old computers in my house. I have 17 computers that consist of non working, new and very old laptops and desktops. I also have loads of misc crap things like wires. I have 2 vista licenses laying around ,windows 7 license, Windows 98 cd, Windows 95 cd, countless XP licenses. I have many odds and end electronics ranging from 80s sony watchmens, to mp3 player. This is just a taste of what I have in my house. I think I should see Dr Phil  +Raze, Tuishimi, Charisma and 3 others 6 Share
majortom1981
I hate getting server motherboards or raid cards fixed. I cringe everytime dell or hp asks me to update the firmware. I had a tech come and replace a motherboard which erased the raid array.
Arceles
I didn't knew VRM throttling... even when I'm an EE, was so much constrained to laptops that I though it would be the same, nonetheless... I survived the Laptop Desktop transition without too much loss except some loud fans.

Tuishimi
I haven't kept up with any of the modern software engineering paradigm and design pattern terminology. I sound like an idiot. Well... Arpit
i'm a closet geek. i like reading up on tech and gadget news, bells and whistles of any new hardware or software but i'm mostly clueless when it comes to actually knowing the inner workings of any of it. i'm an accounting/finance/business guy and i usually just skim to the benchmark graphs along with verbose articles to determine what's good and what's not. i DO try to make informed decisions though so i try and stay friends with people who actually know what they're talking about :p

DeadEndAccount
and so is any large OS.... Linux and OSX are the same way.... large pools of inconsistancies The inconsistencies within OS X pale in comparison to Windows where in a space of 3-4 applications you can count equal number of different common control and dialogues being used, different drawing technologies, the lack of progress forward to replacing the mess of different GUI kits with a single unified one that all the built in applications use. As I've said, OS X has inconsistencies but they pale in comparison. Btw, I'm not referring to third party applications given that the OS vendor can't change third party behaviour but they can ensure that their own bundled applications and middleware are behaving in a consistent way. They have desks which are not DUSTY!! I live in a house thats impossible to keep dust free lol. I buy hardware on a whim and never use it. I buy hardware with the best intenions of it revolutionizing my life but still use it like the old ways. Get bored of it quickly. I always want the next thing. Thats about it.
