Remove the Start button in Windows 8.1 with StartIsGone

Recommended Posts

Very true, I guess i'm not really thinking of those. I'm personally a big fan of the new start screen, I have too many frequently used app's for W7 start screen to keep up with.

never mind the fact the star screen as a LOT more organized and shows me a lot more apps right away than the start menu. even better with the small icons.

You say that, but it only serves to kick off my OCD when the different coloured tiles can't be organised to form some sort of logical pattern! group's are perfect, but the colours drive me crazy!

there's effort in targetting a hot corner ? it's just a down left flick of the mouse and you're there from anywhere with mouse acceleration on.

Yes there is.  Try doing that through remote desktop.

It's so funny to see everyone go "LOL peeps wanted the button back now they want it gone KIDS LOL". Just stop. You're clearly trolling and that's not an insult it's actually me assuming you know better.

I agree.  One person wanted it back, another COMPLETELY different person did not.  Why is that so hard to understand?

Quite like this app (and some others made by him). The first thing I wanted to do after upgrading to 8.1, was to remove the Start button. The start screen can't replace the start menu, but I don't need it to, as I've just added the apps I use frequently to a toolbar. Plus, the hot corner for the start screen is much more convenient, especially as I've got my taskbar on the left side of the screen (I don't need the hot corner on the bottom left, and the start button on the top left - doesn't make sense having 2).

I honestly don't understand why MS doesn't just make it an option...

Me neither. You not only can't remove the button, but it's shown on all your monitors... seriously wtf ?! I just installed this app, and it does its job perfectly. Thanks a lot Sergey !

"Seriously, wtf?!" It's shown on all monitors to eliminate mouse travel time. You can invoke the Start Screen on any monitor without having to travel back to your main monitor like you do in XP, Vista, and 7.

The best start screen and most efficient start screen for Windows 8.1 is the one I posted in November Desktops.

Anyway back on topic, its a program that was made to silence the 3 people on the planet who want the start button gone.

There's an option to do just that without having to click anything in taskbar properties : "Show Start on the display I'm using when I press the Windows logo key". Why would I need a non removable Start button in addition to that ?

People are fighting for Microsoft to not take away their precious mouse, now all of a sudden no one wants mouse options... Strange.

It doesn't even make sense for the START button to not be there.

Besides, why would someone want that big empty space where the START button normally is?

Looks retarded if anything, besides, you have to click down there anyways, might as well click on a proper button, der.

Der, this app gets rid of the button and moves the taskbar icons over, there's no "big empty space" to speak of, der.
