First game I've heard of completely selling out on launch day in awhile... there is literally nowhere to get it in my city at the moment.

Walter White made $80,000,000 for prospective after he was all set and left the meth business! I could only wonder what I'd use $800 million!

Thanks for the spoiler.  I'm not even done with season 3.

Now if only they would've released the PC version on day 1, the sales would easily have been the highest. :)

lol! I could've mailed you some. We had quite a few on stand in our store at least. :)

This is incredibly phenomenal though. I'm quite impressed they were able to achieve such a feat. Wonder how quickly they'll topple the COD record.

This x10.  GTA is much better on a PC, imo.

Can it put a GTX Titan through its paces?

If it is poorly coded, easily.

Where are you seeing this? You create a game that makes $800,000,000 in 1 day.

Its business. That 800 million isn't 'theirs' until their dues are paid. MS/sony have a 20-30% of retail profit cut for the developer to get 'licensing' for any title, and I presume like every other business manufacturing/distribution/marketing wasn't free. Sells for $60 at a store, the store takes $12 for selling it for them, MS/Sony take another $15 for licensing. Technologies used in the game (audio encoding for example) are likely paid on a royalty/licensing fee where each sold title nets the developer a few bucks. There was articles in some xbox magazine breaking down the 'cost' for a game. The way they broke it down I really don't know how studios who didn't sell 10 million copies or more at launch could survive.

Have not bought it yet.  Waiting to make sure it is not just another same old GTA.  Plus, I have a few other games I am playing i need to finish first.

I'm similar in that I haven't bought it yet because I still have to see if it's the same as GTA4 or if it's gone back to its fun roots. From what I've heard so far I think I'll be looking in to Saints Row 4.

$800 million in 24 hours. That's impressive. :o

So are you still not impressed? Show me a video game launch that has made that much in 1 day.

I don't think that was his point.

So based on that graph, the publisher has made: $449,999,982 after fees. Seems much more profitable than your logic of them "breaking even" in the 1st 3 days.

The game cost 250 million to make, so they are profitting almost 250 million....in the 1st 3 days.
