+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted September 19, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted September 19, 2013 "In a roundtable interview at Tokyo Game Show today, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that Sony plans to launch Gaikai cloud services with a library of PS3 games in North America next year. A selection of games will be available at launch, which will expand over time - Yoshida mentioned that users will want a good selection of titles to browse through from the beginning, like with Netflix, so the plan is to launch with a decent number of available games. They will be available to play through PS4, PS Vita and the recently-announced Vita TV." http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/09/19/sony-plans-to-launch-gaikai-ps3-library-in-2014

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted September 19, 2013 Author Subscriber² Share Posted September 19, 2013 Gaikai adds fantastic value to future PS4 owners. If it works well getting to play PS3 games on the Vita/Vita TV will be huge.
Skiver Veteran Posted September 19, 2013 Veteran Share Posted September 19, 2013 How does the service work, is it like a netflix service you subscribe to or get part of PSN+ so that you can play any game from library you want or is it something similar to the PSN store where you see a game, buy it and it then streams the game for you? trooper11
Well they are certainly leveraging it in the right way. This is a big deal to me. I own a ps3 and there are games that I would like to still buy, even some that I own that I haven't finished yet. If I can buy them on the ps4 instead, that's great. It'll be interesting to see if they offer this as a perk to psn+ or if its an additional charge. But its not really an alternative to backwards compatibility since this is a streaming service, meaning that you wont be downloading the games to keep, you'll just be playing the games via Sony's servers. We will see how reliable that is. That also means you need to be online to play any of these games.
Showan
It's Gaikai... EVOLVED EDITION...This is amazing (well how it's playing out in my head it is :woot: ) But last time I checked... A TON of people were complaining about the quality of their internet service... PS3 games are pretty intensive... Anyone with less than 6-down and 3-up are going to have some problems... ESC@PE
No thanks, I would much rather pay the extra premium and have the PS4 be backwards compatible with all PS1,2&3 discs.Probably in the minority here but I would pay for that. Gaikai is not at all intriguing to me. Blackhearted and Aergan 2 Share

Well then again, you are more insightful than I am... :)

I am wondering the same. Be cool if it was part of a PSN+ Subscription. This will be good for (hopefully) playing first or second games that have sequels. ie) First Infamous, etc.
Boolanger
Sounds great to me really hope it is a "all you can play sub" like Netflix, would be nice if it was part of PS+ but I highly doubt it. If they knew it was going to be part of + I'm sure it would have been mentioned when they mention paying for online multiplayer to soften the blow. Not that they really needed to but it would have been the time to announce it. That and it can't be cheap to run the service.
