I'm usually a man of the contemporary. I enjoy new hardware and what it can do with the new software (especially games).

Yet sometimes I feel like I miss the old times and install some super old game from my Steam library. And I don't know about you, but I find myself still enjoying those old games just as much as I did some 10-15 years ago.

I play Stronghold Crusader (an old medieval RTS) on a somewhat regular basis. Every now and then, me and an old friend of mine decide to have a LAN party playing this 2002 game.

I recently downloaded StarCraft: Brood War from my BNet account. To my surprise I totally nailed the bots but what nailed me was the huge wave of nostalgia when everybody was playing it at Internet Caf?s and everybody was talking about it.

And because you'll say I only play RTS, I also recently played Call of Duty. Yes, the first one from the franchise that now has nothing in common with it except the name. The one I wasn't even able to run back then because my PC was trash. Tons of fun.

I wonder if any of you still play some old titles, be it because of nostalgia or because you still actually enjoy them despite their technical flaws. Do you?

I have a considerable amount of old games ( I play a lot of them) from back then like a lot of the Need For Speed games, Call of Duty, Half Life, Rollar Coaster Tycoon, Vice City, GTA III, Diablo. Some of my very old games can't play because they need MS-DOS. One of the very first game I played when I was little called Freddi Fish, still works on Windows 7.

Yeah, Solitaire... I bet if it was on Steam it would still get the most activity.

I tried playing Vice City a few months ago but it just didn't go well with my widescreen. The aim was broken - I aim at one point but Tommy shoots at another. On a 1280x1024 monitor however it worked just fine. Still mad at it.

I still have all my old games that I ever bought since 1994. I occasionally install one out of nostalgia.

You may want to use this nifty program to help you out to play those MS-DOS oldies.

DOSBox should also help with MS-DOS games.

Atomic Bomberman

M.U.L.E. on an Atari 800 emulator

Various Infocom games, we didn't need pixels back in the day

Crusader: No Remorse/Regret

There's a few others, and these don't get a lot of play, it's a "when the mood hits me" thing... but sometimes you can't beat the classics.
