Dombev
Hi, The laptop screen started flickering when power and battery was in, fumes then started to come from the laptop when I disconnected the power cable and re-connected it. The laptop works fine using only the battery but when connected to 2 different power cables, fumes start to emit from it but it doesnt overheat. Could this be an internal problem or battery problem? Thanks
Bi4me
To me it sounds like a problem with your power cable, perhaps a bad contact or broken cable? Did you check?
Dombev
The power cable I've been using has been known to get hot after long usage, there are no other problems with it though. I used a similiar power cable which is also compatible with the laptop and fumes then started to emit as well.
riahc3
Hello, I HIGHLY suggest your disconnect at least you battery. These heat and electrical problems are not good at all. If you battery over heats or gets a "overtension", there is a possibility of explosion. If you want to keep testing, at least disconnect your battery even though there are other things in your laptop that can also do damage. Why are you even continuing to mess with a smoking laptop??? goretsky and Phouchg 2 Share
Dombev
I'm not testing anything, I was just asking for advice on the issue
Phouchg
Why are you even continuing to mess with a smoking laptop??? This. STOP using it at once lest borked power delivery (most likely) or backlight, as noted by good man riahc3, causes it to actually catch fire and perhaps battery to explode violently. If it's under warranty - go to store and hope that they honor it. Otherwise - may open it and locate the cause and assess the damage.
TAZMINATOR
Take to the tech dept at the store and have them take a look at the laptop and see what caused it... they will tell you what's going on.. You may need a new battery since the current battery may be bad/defective. Or some parts inside the laptop could be bad..
