Back when I was young, around my early to later 20's I could drink a pot of coffee and go right to bed. Once I reached 30 caffeine totally KICKS MY ASS!! I don't dare even drink it after 6pm or come 10pm when I try to go to sleep, I won't be able to.

So what about everyone else?

I'm 34!

The opposite here.  When I was a kid in my teens and 20's it would get me wired and I wouldn't be able to sleep.  Nowadays a nice cup of coffee before bed doesn't phase me in the least.. I'm comatose 5 minutes after my head hits the pillow, especially during the winter when I typically sleep a lot deeper.

for sure,  cannot have coffee after 6 pm, and i avoid it if i can after 2pm

i dont have such severe reaction to caffeine in tea or yerba mate, so i prefer to avoid coffee altogether and drink green tea / yerba mate

it was always interfering, but it became much more noticeable with age (i am a few years past 30)

If I drink coffee after about 3pm or so it kinda ###### with my sleep.  Not terribly so, but enough to have largely gotten me to stop drinking coffee so late.  I'm 26.

Depends on the amount of caffeine. But usually a cup doesn't affect me at all. And it's not because I've drunk coffee all my life.

I drank so much caffeine in College that it no longer affects me, I can devour a 500ml can of Relentless and go right to sleep.

22 here.

26, and nope. I remember once I had coffee because I wanted to pull an all nighter when I was 8 - fell right asleep. To this day, doesn't bother me at all.

I think I didn't really care what effect various drugs and stimulants had on me when I was younger. I was up all night most of the time and the cause was probably coffee, but I don't think I really realized it until I was in my mid 30s.

i'm over 30 and a few cups of coffee don't bother me, but if i drink an energy drink, that sometimes (maybe 1 out of 4 times) will keep me awake.  (it might be the combo of caffiene and the B vitamins?  or..  i dunno)

Kind of goofy to have to vote in every section of the poll, isn't it?

I'm 54 years old, 55 next month, so why would I vote in the first 2 sections?

Anyway,

I drink coffee 24/7, have ever since I was about 16, and it has no effect on me. Have a nice fresh cup right here next to me right now!

Mountain Dew, I have found, really messes me up, especailly my stomach, and sleep wise. I don't really like Dew anymore anyway.

Small nit on the title...should read "Does caffeine affect you going to sleep?"

For 'effect' to be correct, it should read something like:

"Does caffeine have an effect on you going to sleep?"

Otherwise, I agree with those who say a person shouldn't have to vote in all three sections of the poll--just the one that pertains to their particular age group. (For the record, I'll be 43 on Nov. 11), and caffeine barely affects my ability to go to sleep. :)

Depends on the sheer amount.  I used to drink a Mountain Dew to actually HELP me go to sleep.  I currently drink a Rockstar to get through the day like other people drink coffee.

When I DJ out, I usually complement my shots of Jager with cans of Red Bull, and generally go to sleep just fine.

caffeine doesn't do anything to me, unless I drink AT LEAST 3 monster energy drinks all together. Which I do every morning. 28yo BTW

Nope, caffeine never had effect on my sleep at any age.  It just depends on how tired I am.

Coffee has no effect on me. If anything coffee actually helps me sleep easier.
