You see/hear what you want to see/hear. I was I walmart today, both consoles were sold out and didn't see people looking/asking for either console. Same with the Target near me.

I don't purposely listen to what people say.  I am not just saying something I wanted to hear.  I hear ###### all the time I don't want to.

Did i upset a couple people who do the very thing i described in fueling how we see little else aside from the same 2-3 types of games from most western devs?

From many other points of view, fat more in fact,a lolly he "different"@ JRPGS, are just the same game with a slightly different coat of paint as well. Funny thing is, that comment wouldn't be any more or less wrong than yours,

1. Isn't 909k actualy sales figure?

2. Sony sold 1.5M in NA not just US. (granted US is still largest piece of the pie)

1. Shortly after launch, Sony announced 1m in sell through in 24 hours.  Shortly after launch, Microsoft announced a bunch of random (yet cool) gameplay numbers.  The 900k is coming out now.

2.The 1.5 million figure was pulled from my butt.  I don't have actual numbers, but Sony is quoting NPD (which is US only) saying they sold more.

Regardless anyone who thought it was going to be a run away from either side is just a  radical fanboy.  No one knows the inner working of how each company decides to distribute.  There will be no winner for a year so none of this who sold more or faster matters.   Its a supply and demand game right now. Who can get the most shipped out.   Both Sony and MS are playing a strong PR game as well and the radical fanboys are falling all over it.

I dunno about most people but i chose the XO to buy first because of games.  Not because graphics or because i bought into one sides BS but because it had a couple games I would actually play right now.  PS4 will be under my tv come march when the games im looking forward to come out.

You are wrong...Microsoft has announced 3 numbers so far, Sony has announced only 2.

Shortly after launch

Sony: 1.1M in 24hrs (3 countries)

Microsoft: 1M in 24hrs (13 countries)

Random period after launch

Sony: 2.1M worldwide

Microsoft: 2M worldwide

After NPD:

Sony: No number for Nov'13 sales

Microsoft: 909,132 consoles sold in Nov'13

Random period after launch

Just FYI, it wasn't random. It was after the EU launch (Sunday night here, Monday in Japan), which is when our sale numbers are usually announced after Friday launches for hardware and software.

I know this is off topic and possibly flame bait, but this thread doesn't deserve the post count it has.

Let the PR machines spin it and let's talk about more important things. I'm so tired of these threads - it's a freaking circular discussion that goes no where and really makes it hard to enjoy the gaming subforums.

Both consoles did well. That's all that matters.

I was just trying to simplify categories.

I find this interesting and maybe true:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57615284-75/for-xbox-one-sales-the-real-test-comes-after-christmas/

"The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price," said Michael Pachter, a Wedbush Securities analyst, at the Game Monetization USA Summit in San Francisco last week. "Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4."

There are also a slew of other factors to consider when projecting Microsoft's strategy to keep the Xbox One sales steady, from the platform environment of 2014 to the ever-pressing question of whether to leave the Kinect behind.
As far as games are concerned, Microsoft is heading into 2014 with the unfortunate reality that many of next year's most highly anticipated titles are multiplatform.

How is it possible to know the gaming situations since we don't even know what all will be launching next year for either console?

If we go by just what we know about right now, couldn't you apply the same 'worry' to the ps4 in terms of most of the big releases being multiplatform?

The pricing issue will remain and that will likely be the difference. The key is, how big of a difference. If sales remain close enough for MS, they may not feel compelled to lower the price so soon. If there is a bigger gap, then they will feel the pressure.

I know its mentioned that MS might leave Kinect behind, but I think that's probably the least likely thing to happen above all. I'm convinced that they would rather eat the losses of cutting the price to $399 then abandon Kinect at this point.

Microsoft have often talked up having 15 exclusives for the first year, one of those being their most popular franchise, Halo, while I haven't really seen much announced for the first year for PS4 other than Infamous and Driveclub. So shouldn't Sony also being worrying by that logic?

Also considering that the XB1 is keeping up with the PS4 in sales so far, it really isn't ideal to drop the price just yet. In fact it's a testament to the Xbox Brand that they can still sell the console for a higher price and be keeping up in sales.
