compl3x Posted February 19, 2014 Share Posted February 19, 2014 Nvidia Shield is a handheld game console by Nvidia, released on July 31, 2013.[3] Shield runs on Android, featuring a flip-up 130 mm (5-inch) touchscreen display[4] with 1280x720 pixel resolution.[5] The device is similar in shape to a Xbox 360 controller and similar in control setup to a Dualshock controller, with two analog joysticks, a D-pad, and other buttons. It is the first device to utilize Nvidia's Tegra 4 processor. I haven't played or even seen one of these. Anyone on here have one or played one? Skiver Veteran Posted February 19, 2014 Veteran Share Posted February 19, 2014 Don't know enough about it to really get much interest, I'm not really big on hand held gaming devices as I can usually get by with just my phone and never really have a desire for more. I think it would depend on where the games were coming from, if its going to be a play store only type thing then no thanks however if there was a bigger and better range with the type of game a Vita can handle then I might be interested. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 20, 2014 Veteran Share Posted February 20, 2014 I actually looked into one a few months back, I was most interested in the streaming from PC using Steam Big Picture. Then I realized my aging CPU did not meet the minimum requirements. So, I never picked one up. The biggest aspect I found when researching it was people loved, absolutely loved it, as an emulation machine. Old NES games. Sega Saturn & Genesis games. The list goes on. People said it was a hell of an emulation handheld. So if you are into either of the above (and your PC meets the minimum requirements) it seems like it could be a decent handheld, albeit it a very niche one. I guess at the end of the day you can say that for every handheld on the market though, and this is coming from someone who owns a 3DS and a Vita.
