What is the single change that that has had the greatest effect on your life?

For me I'd have to say it's been reading close to an hour of non-fiction daily and making it a habit.

I've just learnt so much stuff from some of the best minds and its translated into a better mentality as well as a deeper understanding of the various facets of life. I read a lot about productivity, money, time management, happiness, goals, approaching life, lifestyle design etc.

With that knowledge continually coming in, a cascading effect on the way I operate, and better life choices have come. All by simply reading 45mins per day.

What was the one lifestyle change you made that had the greatest impact on you?  :)

Better start reading some regular English language books then as they is no such proper word as learnt!! :)

Biggest change in my life happened when I got married. Second biggest one was having a kid.

Those 2 things will teach you tons about life!!

Edit:

I see where you are from and I guess that word is a word there. :)

Moving 500 miles north to start my own business.

Could never be happier, have everything i need, a new family, the business is doing well and my location is awesome. Had i not moved i'd still be stuck in the rut that i thought i was enjoying.

Except in regular every day English from England you mean?

End of a terrible relationship. Caused tremendous self introspection and later lead to a continuous self improvement cycle. I am thankful to myself now.

I was going to say the above but I'll top it.  :)

Getting married, having 2 kids. Getting divorced then re-married and having a 3rd child at 40!  :woot:

But to answer the OP, It was having my 3rd child at 40 would be the single change that had the greatest effect on my life!

Moving out of my parents place, learned loads about myself (both good and bad) and think I've become a better person for it.

Jumbo sausage and large chips please, unbattered, just salt, ta.

A splendid order sir! Alas, despite the username, it wasn't a chip shop but a web design firm.

Really insightful stuff guys, keep it coming.

Some of you had said having a child was a big change. I can totally imagine how having to care of someone other than yourself will have a massive change on your life.

Particularly when its your son/daughter that you love who is practically helpless esp. at the start. I imagine it can create some really positive character virtues while also being very rewarding.

Exercise - cardio and weights. Gets rid of any negative feelings or depression. I will continue it forever.

This is an awesome topic and I've really enjoyed reading other's responses!

For me: going to University.  I don't have children yet :)

I learnt who I am, it got me the job I am in today, I met the love of my life (and now my fiancee) and I made some truly great friends to experience life with.

Easy one, having my daughter. It's because of her that I've made lots of changes in my lifestyle.. quit smoking, rarely drink anymore, more active, better anger management, teaching her has made me a lot more patient.. I can confidently say it's been the best 8 years of my life so far.

My divorce and the ensuing 2 years of deliberately being single.  Made me realise what I value, who I value, what I want from life.

I also have become a much nicer person.

I think for me so far it would be moving to Switzerland in 2000. It might not have been a change that I wanted when I was first told about it, but sitting here now I can say that I probably wouldn't be the same person if I had stayed in the UK. Mostly that is for the best.
