Anyone buying a PS TV when it becomes available in their region?

Recommended Posts

This guy.

I already have it preordered actually. I mainly plan on using it to stream my PS4 to my bedroom, but since I also own a Vita I will no doubt check out all of its capabilities.

So if you want to hold off for impressions I will post them once I get it.

I will say I am already prepared to be let down. Hopefully that means I will be pleasantly surprised, but not expecting to be.

Yes, very tempted indeed. Just because I enjoy my Vita but wouldn't mind trying an actual DualShock, bigger screen and without recharging issues. Only downside is lack of actual Vita games supported - mainly PS1 and PSP titles - but, at least, Killzone Mercenary is supported. :)

I plan to get one.  It's been delayed a bit because the original plan was to move the TV that's currently in the living room to the "office" (second bedroom) and attach the PlayStation TV to it.  With a new TV replacing it in the living room with the PS4.  However the acquisition of a new TV has hit a snag so buying a PlayStation TV will have to wait until there is a TV to connect it to.  With the holidays coming up that will likely have to wait until after Christmas at this point (or perhaps I'll get one as a gift for Christmas.)

The device is said to be compatible with over 100 Vita games

I think that is a list of compatible Vita games (site is in Japanese)

I was considering it.. though unless the games can be bough permanently (for bargain bin prices) I won't be.  The price of playstation now games is ridiculous.  You can buy the game forever for <15$ but PS Now will charge over 20 for 30 days.

Uncharted was never patched (due to touch requirement) - for me that is a big let down. But Killzone Mercenary is compatible and so is Dead Nation. LBP:V and Tearaway aren't either. Same goes for Assassin's Creed. Basically only games that have been ported to Vita (not built for Vita), nor need the GPS, Mic or Camera... :)

Certainly does kill off some of the bigger titles.

Here is a better list of compatible titles:

I don't see how Sony could allow you to buy PS Now games permanently.  Every time you play them you are running off of Sony's servers and using their bandwidth.  Those servers/bandwidth cost money to maintain so they need constant income either through rentals or a subscription.  It's a streaming service, it's like saying you should be able to pay once and get Netflix forever.

PS Now is only a small portion of what the PlayStation TV can play though.  If you have a PS4 it can remote play most PS4 games so you can play your games on another TV while your significant other/roomate or whatever watches a movie on the TV the PS4 is connected to.  It can also play some PS Vita games via the actual game cartridge or downloads (others have posted the list of compatible games so far).  You can also play select downloadable PSOne and PSP games that have been released on PSN.  The downloadable games (PSOne, PSP, and PS Vita), Vita cartridge based games, and PS4 games via remote play (if you have a PS4) are all permanent.

right, the thing is with netflix though.. I pay 7$ per month.. and can access whatever I want whenever I want during that month.  I can watch 10 seasons during that month.. it is limited to what time I have in the month.

If PS Now was like that.. it'd be worth it in my opinion.

They've already stated that subscription pricing is in the works.  They just haven't announced the specific terms yet as the whole thing is still just in beta.  They probably want to get a sense of what the final rental pricing is going to be (right now even they admit it's too high and they're tweaking prices lower) and how much the average user rents in a given period of time in order to know what a reasonable subscription fee would be.

Ah okay, awesome.  Glad to hear that.

No, but not because I'm not interested, but because I only have on TV and no Vita, so it wouldn't get much use.  If I move in with my gf next year, then maybe I'd pick one up.  But she likes to watch me play with myself....  er....  I mean....   um.....

  • 3 weeks later...

Got my PSTV today.

Happy to report Remote Play works awesome. First game I checked was Driveclub, and I actually got the best time I had gotten yet on the track I played (only had 1 of 3 stars). So yeah, that was a very successful first test.

All I need to see it was a justified purchase to be honest.

With that said the rest of it is the Vita OS on one's TV. I am downloading Hotline Miami right now.

One thing I thought was beat is it seems like the Vita OS just has a download speed limit, as it was downloading as slow as my Vita would, which is just stupid, since it is hardwired and it handled the previously mentioned Remote Play smooth as butter.

They need to fix that if they can.

Otherwise I would say this little box, and that is the other thing I can say, it is so damn tiny, did not expect it to be so small, is well, well worth it.

If you do not have a Vita and want one for your TV for whatever reason, this is the solution.

If you want your PS4 in another room, but do not went to purchase a whole other PS4, this seems almost to good to be true.

But my initial impression is super positive, and I am glad that is the case, as a friend of mine also purchased one, perhaps he will chime in here, and said he saw some lag when he initially checked out the Remote Play.

Big (Y) from me so far.

If and when I have any other positive or negative experiences, I will share them.

I wasn't going to. It'd be nice to play some of my Vita games on my TV though. It is also quite well priced.

Persona 4 will be getting another play through i think!

DL's wall of text helped make my decision too.

lol came here to see if the pstv was worth it and honestly I did read that the remote play was good which is the main thing i wanted but I sorta agreed with the OP and i got lazy and couldnt finish reading it then i couldnt read all the derailing rant post after that over a silly suggestion.

Anyways I might pick one up as soon as my ps4 gets back from rma as long as the remote play is smooth over wireless as I want to play in my bedroom and i get full signal in there and the ps4 is actually direct connected to router.

I'll pick one up - although I might wait for Amazon warehouse deals to get one a little cheaper :P.

The only reason I'd want it is to play PS4 games downstairs. I can't imagine Vita games would look good on a big screen.

Definitely decided to pick one of these up in the UK come launch. Mainly want it just to play all my vita games through the TV when at home.

I have a plasma TV so it compares well to OLED :p I know the games will look pretty crappy blown up, but it can't be worse than how my Wii looks through the TV!
