VLC for WinRT; WP version delayed. No ARM C compiler?

Question

I didn't know where to post this thread. Please move if it's in the wrong section.

---------------------------------------------------------------

This is the story.

This is what he wrote in the comments:

VLC is wrote in C99, not C++. And MS doesn't provide a ARM C compiler that targets the WinPho ARM arch. Basically.

So we have to do it. :/

I'm not a programmer and don't know much about programming either.

I did some looking around and found this but not certain if it's related.

Could someone with a programming knowledge shed some light on this.

Who's at fault here; MS or the VLC team? What possible solution could there be?

No one is at fault per say. Microsoft has to draw a line in the sand somewhere and say we support X languages via X compilers otherwise they'd never ship their tools. The VLC team is free to choose whatever language and compilers they feel best meets the needs of their project. The reality is VLC is pretty old so it has a huge legacy code base that they don't want to rewrite and retest so they are working on someway to bring that legacy code to the newer target platforms.
