+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted October 24, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted October 24, 2014 Safari 8.0 has - in my opinion - improved over previous versions, to a degree that I hardly ever use a third party browser at all anymore. How about you?
LaP
Firefox whatever is the last version number.
Boo Berry
Google Chrome with Firefox as my backup. But at the same time I've got to give a shoutout to Safari 8 since I've grown to quite enjoy its speed compared to the more laggy Chrome on Mac. I'm thinking I'll try running Safari 8 alone for the next week or so, so we'll see.
Denis W. Veteran Posted October 24, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 24, 2014 Despite the speed improvements of Safari I still rely on Chrome for default, mainly because it supports profile switching which is very useful for keeping my work stuff separate from personal. Safari is however useful for whenever I'm leisurely browsing on my laptop on battery at a coffee shop or similar. I used to have Opera as default but the (perceived) speed of the browser took a measurable hit after upgrading to Yosemite.

+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted October 24, 2014 Author Subscriber² Share Posted October 24, 2014 Love the assumption that nobody uses Internet Explorer as their primary browser. How ignorant... :) Internet Explorer on OS X? Um...
Boo Berry
There hasn't been IE on OS X since IE5. :p

+virtorio MVC Posted October 26, 2014 MVC Share Posted October 26, 2014 Safari 8 is much better than the previous version, but I still find it weirdly sluggish compared to Chrome and the latest version of Firefox (which has gotten a lot faster recently). I mostly use Chrome.
allannyholm
Firefox 34 beta -- love the bookmarking system and the way extensions work. Unlike Safari, with Firefox the 1Password extension doesn't show its "Looking for the 1Password extension"-window after a quit and relaunch of the browser. Just to name one extension that is cross browser compatible. Firefox, to me, stands for "Stability and Compatibility"
ViperAFK
Safari 8 at the moment. On mavericks I used firefox. I can't stand chrome on OSX, its a massive battery hog.
stereopixels
I'm using Safari 8; I'm usually a Chrome/Android user with everything synced but I just can't get away from how handy the Read It Later feature is (used Pocket on Chrome, but it's seriously nothing like as good) along with how little window chrome Safari now has, which is a real benefit on a 15" MBP screen. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted October 26, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 26, 2014 Still Chrome. The seamless syncing across all of my devices is still unrivaled. Perfect example. I had looked up the imdb page for a movie on my laptop at home yesterday late afternoon that I thought me and the wife could watch later that night. While at dinner I mentioned the movie but could not remember the details, pulled out my phone, fired up Google Now, and it was the first thing waiting for me under my Smart Cards. I did not even have to open Chrome to check out recently opened websites under History, which I could have. Using Chrome just ties together everything I do across all of my devices perfectly, and they have been doing this good for close to 2 years now. Since it is not broke, there is no need to fix it. I imagine if I used an iPhone, I would switch to Safari. Since I do not Chrome is still my preferred browser for multiple device syncing.
The Guvnor
Safari 8 works beautifully for me. i haven't touched Chrome since I upgraded to Yosemite. One noticeable thing is that, video playing in Safari 8 is STELLAR!
Bamsebjørn
I've always used Safari on MacOS X. Somehow, all other browsers feel... off. On Linux I always use Firefox... on Windows I use Chrome.

DeadEndAccount
Safari 8.0 - honestly I've tried Firefox, Chrome and Opera but I keep coming back due to the integration with iCloud and all the other creature comforts that are missing from the competing browsers.
