My Issues With microsoftstore.com Video Game Preorder Promos

Is anyone else having major issues getting their preorder promotional codes or credit from Microsoft directly? In particular orders placed at microsoftstore.com

 

3 orders in a row.

All 3 orders have come with a preorder incentive.

Actually this is the first (and almost definitely the last) time I ever preordered video games from MS, specifically because they were offering these promotions and because I also read they were also finally doing release day delivery.

 

The first two orders were get a $10 promo code for preordering any MS 1st party title. This particular promotion goes back months. In fact my preorder was on June 17th.

 

I preordered Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive both directly from MS. Both titles required me to contact MS directly and after several weeks and 3 hours of my time total, I finally got my promo credit

 

Credit where credit is due. Since it took over a month to get my Forza Horizon 2 promo credit, they made it $20. Awesome..

 

I was hoping I would not have to go through the same exact thing with Sunset Overdrive, but I did. I must have been in the system already though so got that promo credit in about 5 days once I initiated contacted.

 

Next up was a promotion where if you preordered from a decent amount of titles, including third party titles, you got 15,000 XBox Live Reward Points, which is equal to $15. I ordered Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

 

I am currently fighting this last one, which I decided to do while finalizing my credit I was finally given for Sunset Overdrive, some 23 days after release.

 

The reason I am currently fighting the last promo credit as I have now been told I need to contact XBox Support even though I purchased from the Microsoft store directly, because it is their (XBox) promotion.

Same damn company, but I have to contact another division to get my promotional credit from the division I placed my order from, AFTER I have had to contact them in regards to not receiving my credit from 2 previous preorders.

 

And just to clarify.


  • The email address I use for microsoftstore.com is my MS email address that is tied to all other MS services, including Live.


  • Also for each one of these promotions, I waited the 10 days they say it will take to receive them. In fact I waited over 15 on all of them. I never got anything until I initiated contact saying I did not get anything.

 

I can say with the utmost of certainty I will never place another video game preorder from MS ever again. I have now spent close to 4 hours of my time getting promo codes, and in fact still do not have the last one, when it is supposed to be an automatic process.

I know I have asked you this before, but are you near a physical MS store?

 

I always do my preorders with a store and get all of the same bonuses, except I get them when I get the game, not days or weeks later. Never had an issue. They really need to fix their online redemption though, it sounds messed up.

There is a MS store in the mall by my work but that kind of defeats the convenience of being able to preorder online. I do not go to the mall at all, so if I were to go it would be specifically for this, so I would be going two times just for a preorder. Not worth it.

I just do not get why their system is so broken. I truly do not.

As I said it is a moot point though. I am done preordering from them.

Truly never again. I shared this all to warn others of their ######. If they are cool with going into the store more power to them.

I honestly don't know if I'll ever get my $15 credit for my COD preorder as I am that frustrated. 3 hours wasted on the first 2, don't really feel like going through the hassle all over again.

So hopefully my story stops one or two people from preordering from the website directly. It is an awful system.

AFAIK xbox live rewards is contracted to a third party. I don't remember where I heard this, it must have been an ms support person. A few days ago, they accidentally gave me 40K points instead of 20K for completing a punch card. they have since removed the additional 20k.
