chromaniac
I have been trying to follow this guide here: Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help To create a bootable disk. The problem I am facing is that the media creation tool file it gives me does not execute. Instead of running some kind of a wizard, it gives me an open with popup. What could possibly be wrong? I have a proper Windows 8.1 install and this does not happen with any other executable file.
zhangm Supervisor Posted January 3, 2015 Supervisor Share Posted January 3, 2015 Try downloading it again? The executable appears to behave as expected on my end. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=510815 1.41 MB (1,483,336 bytes)
Aergan
Works here also. I think you have an incomplete or corrupted download for it not be be recognised as an executable file.
chromaniac
I have tried downloading it multiple times. In fact, the previous download tools released by Microsoft for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 behaves the same way for me. File property of the exe file shows the proper Microsoft certification. It is definitely an issue with my Windows install. I used a friend's machine to build a bootable disk for me. I hope it would work on my computer if I ever need to reinstall Windows 8.1 on it.
