nytiger73
Hello Everyone! I am in the process of evaluating hardware so I can upgrade my system. This is a gaming system. I can run pretty much just about any game currently. However, the next generation of games is coming out and I am looking to future proof myself. (I am looking at you GTA V and The Witcher 3!) I currently have the following: Intel i7 2600K CPU (not overclocked) EVGA P67 motherboard 16GB Corsair Vengeance PC12800 DDR3 RAM 120GB Crucial SSD 850W Antec PSU EVGA GTX 780 FTW I am considering the following: Intel i7 4790K CPU - this is sent in stone. I am considering one of the following 3 motherboards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130809 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132247 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188160&cm_re=evga_z97-_-13-188-160-_-Product My plan is to do some overclocking this time around. I am also considering upgrading my video card to either a GTX 970 (I am aware of the memory issues that have recently been reported, I am only going to be doing 1080p gaming) or a GTX980. In either the case, is the upgrade worth it on the video card, all things considered (such as clock speed, power consumption, DX12, MFAA support) Secondly, can anyone chime in on those 3 boards. I've read a bunch of reviews, only the MSI board is sparse on reviews, this seems to be a newer model. The ASUS board, I have read some concerning things in the NewEgg reviews about USB and SATA ports being wonky. However, other professional reviews I've read give the board rave reviews. The EVGA board gets great reviews all around. If you could give me some assistance, it would be most appreciated. If I missed anything, please let me know
