PNY or eVGA for GeForce GTX 970?

Recommended Posts

My Asustek Strix Geforce GTX 970 is too tall for my stupid corsair air 240 case. It looks like a lot of people have the same issue. Which I did a little more research instead of asking the sells person about size. Anyway, I will need to replace it with the PNY or eVGA. Those are there two cards that will fit in the case with they are only 4.4inch instead 5.3 inches for the Asustek.

evga as I love their warrenty

however you should look into the coil whine some cards have  Im sure somone will chime in with more information

I bought an EVGA FTW 970 a few days ago and I'll be using its 5 year warranty quickly, because the coil whine is seriously annoying me (even when the game isn't rendering menus at 1000 fps etc.)

The older PNY cards lasted longer for me, but the newer ones (such as my GeForce 610) didn't survive a year and a half, so my advice is go with EVGA. You pay slightly more but the quality is so much better.

In terms of newegg reviews, currently, the PNY has 66% satisfaction (4 or 5-star reviews) out of 15 reviews, and the EVGA (I assume this one) has 77% satisfaction out of 239 reviews. Therefore it seems like the EVGA is the safer choice, but do note that it's not that great either. That still means that 23% of buyers had a mixed or negative opinion about it.

I'll say this: Those that have a positive experience in a hotel tend not to write a review online compared to those who had a negative experience...

Currently have 1 of each brand in 2 different computers. They are both older than heck and I haven't had a problem with either.

As with about anything, especially elecronics, it's the luck of the draw on if you get a lemon or not.

Would probably pick the evga though, if I had the option in front of me.

My EVGA came with 3 year warranty AFAIK.

If you register the 970 on their website within a month of purchase, you get 5 years.

Registered on their site actually,

"This product carries a three (3) year limited warranty from your purchased date."

It depends on the prefix,

Limited 5 Year Suffixes: -GR, -SR, -VR, -V1, -V2, -V3

Limited 3 Year Suffixes: -KR, -K1, -K2, -K3, -KB, -KA, -KF, -KM

so if you are buying EVGA keep that in mind :)

Yet Intel CPUs manage to get 95% satisfaction in reviews. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116899&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo It's a useful tool for comparative purposes, even if the value deviates from absolute customer satisfaction.
