ESXi 5.1u2 - Problem with persistent storage

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm having an issue with an IBM x3650 m4 running ESXi 5.1u2 and upon reboot no storage is found - that is not adapters are available and storage isn't seen. The only fix I've found is an in-place upgrade to the same version of ESXi (basically reinstalling keeping the datastores intact)

I have raid one internal where the esxi is installed (doesn't even see this which is bizarre as it booted from it) and I also have an iSCSI box set up.

the error iI'm getting is the esxi host does not have persistent storage

And ideas?

(i've done the restart services, and rebooted the box many times)

Thanks

Have you tried downloading the IBM ToolsCenter Bootable Media Creator (BOMC) and create a ISO with latest firmware, boot the server from this ISO and upgrade all firmware.

Are you using the IBM Image, Presumably with all the right drivers and such like in

I haven't, but could that affect this?

Also I've used the IBM custom image for installation - but that was last update in Aug 2014. The file you linked is more recent so I'll get this one installed.

Cheers,

So you installed esxi from ibm copy, but then updated via just update from vmware?
