netsurfer802
Can anybody tell me if somebody can use HIRENS 15.2 to flash a DELL BIOS that has Linux? If not what version of HIRENS? I've been trying to download version 16.2 but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advanced for any helpful response/s.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted March 18, 2015 Moderator Share Posted March 18, 2015 BIOS has nothing to do with your OS Linux/Windows/OSX. It is separate. You breaking into someone's computer?
+BudMan MVC Posted March 18, 2015 MVC Share Posted March 18, 2015 What dell are you trying to update, they don't have a bootable iso or usb? Point us to the make and model of the dell and can show you how to update it what file to get, etc. and how to get the bios updated if your not running windows on it. shockz
BIOS has nothing to do with your OS Linux/Windows/OSX. It is separate. You breaking into someone's computer? Dell's BIOS updates can be executed within Windows, where it extracts, reboots then updates the BIOS. You should be able to make a bootable flash drive though with the BIOS update. x-byte
Make a bootable memory stick with MS-DOS/FreeDOS (Rufus can help you). Then copy the BIOS executable on it. Boot up from the stick and run the BIOS file Aergan 1 Share

+Eternal Tempest MVC Posted March 18, 2015 MVC Share Posted March 18, 2015 With the Dell Optiplex can some of the XPS desktops, and business class laptops. The windows dell bios update is also a dual dos level updater. We've made a bootable dos usb, and run the same exe to update at dos level.
