dlf
I have bought this pendrive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211670, in my own system (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/47g3XL) when running Windows 7 Ultimate (haven't tried any other W7 edition with this stick) in USB 3 ports it can't be used, in USB 2.0 ports it can. Strangely if I boot into Ubuntu (14.10) regardless of weather I try USB 3 or 2 ports, it can be read and used. Identical to a USB 3 SD card adapter I also bought recently. Open Minded
Do you have the driver installed? If it works in Linux and not Windows, I would bet on a driver issue. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_intel_usb3.exe
