Recover Outlook Express Account password

Recovering from a crashed HD and recovering OL Express account. I have recovered the dbx files and moved them to the new OL express folder which works fine for the data, but the account settings are lost. Specifically the password to login and retreive email. It is a hotmail account. We cannot remember the password and all attempts to reset it via microsoft do not work (the verification email is sent to the account that we cannot access)
