Accidentally linked my desktop icon to my music icon, Please help

Recommended Posts

Please can anyone help me with a small problem ?

if I right click on my music icon in explorer I can change the location of its contents in the location tab
which I was trying to do, as I have my Mp3s in a music folder on my D Drive.

whilst trying to do that I accidentally moved it to the desktop location of my use folder.
So now both the Desktop and music icons in my explorer are both linked to the same location, (users/username/music) and the desktop link in my user folder has gone.

Does anyone have any idea how I can correct this please ?

Try this, there may be another way but this seemed to work.

Right click one of the libraries (say Pictures) then "Include in Library" -> "Create New Library" -> Now below you Local Discs you should have a new libraries entry -> Right click it "Restore Default Libraries"

Close all explorer windows and reopen. You may need to redo the music location though.

I forgot to mention this is on windows 10 by the way, but should be pretty much the same thing on 7 and 8

but the libraries thing did not set my desktop icon in explorer back to normal.

My Desktop icon says music, and is linked to the same path as the music icon :(
