Empty inventory but only in VSphere Web client

Hi All, 

Got an absolutely bizarre issue here with some users that I can replicate with a test account.  If I log into VCenter using the VSphere Web Client I get an Empty inventory screen, something I'd expect if the user has no permissions. However If I use the thick client it logs in and I see the various DataCenters that user has permission too. 

My Admin account can login to the web portal and see everything it should do without question using the same web browser so I'm hoping that can rule out something web browser related.

The only thing I can think of is if the thick client and web clients have different authentication processes? However even if that's true, It doesn't really help me as I still don't know what they are and where to begin.
