Firefox 43, how do I get the old search box back?

Obviously I have googled this, but this issue isn't that simple. I have check in about:config and the line browser.search.showOneOffButtons is set to false, which is where it would be set if I wanted the old style back. Is there some other method other then the about:config that i am overlooking? The other odd thing, if I change the setting to true and restart FF, it does not save, it seems to revert to the false setting.

It has been removed (source). You can use Classic Theme Restorer or switch to the ESR version (38.x, supported until May).
