Which SSD from this 480GB / 500GB list?

[UK sites]: I'll be buying from somewhere like eBuyer or Scan

I currently have a Samsung SSD 830 256GB drive, but it's gotten fairly full. I am around only 30GB of free space remaining, so was considering a new drive.

I went on to eBuyer & saw:

500GB: http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Storage/cat/Hard-Drive---SSD/500GB

480GB: http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Storage/cat/Hard-Drive---SSD/480GB

There's a lot more choice for the 480GB. All with varying prices. I don't want to jump to the 500GB just because it's 20GB more because with the extra space either will provide i'm pretty sure i'll now have enough between this & my hard drive.

So which to choose & why?

I would go with a Samsung 850 Evo. Good price/GB and solid performance. I'm running 3 of them right now. I've had OCZ, Kingston, and Corsair SSDs in the past and nothing has come close to the speed and reliability of the Samsungs

Samsung Evo 850 are my personal favourite choice of (SATA) SSD at the moment.

And likewise my choice of NVMe SSD is the samsung sm951

I currently have a 1TB HDD & a 500GB HDD. I was considering replacing this with a 3TB HDD & partitioning the drive off. This would also free up a SATA port on the mobo.

Is it always just a case of go for the 7200rpm drive? I'm wanting something quick but reliable.

^^ So many to choose from, where to begin?

For boot drives I cannot recommend mechanical HDDs any more. I had to use a laptop with one the other day and I thought I was going to nod off waiting for it to do stuff I am used to being almost instantaneous.

This one looks fine: http://www.ebuyer.com/695893-samsung-850-evo-500gb-2-5inch-ssd-mz-75e500bw

Samsung EVO pro, 500gb. Anecdotally, I have always used Samsung's stuff and I have always been happy. I would argue they have the most consistent reputation for speed and reliability although I don't spend every waking moment researching and some speed advantages from other brands seem too slim or irrelevant for most users.
