FTP Status on webpage?

Hey all

Was just wondering, since theres status icons and services to tell if a persons on AIM/ICQ/MSN etc. is there a similar sort of thing i could put on my webpage to tell if my FTP server is on? as its not on constantly so was wondering if theres a way to let people who use it know.

Any help would be great.

you can make a php script to do this quite easily

i recommend getting the php manual and going through all the ftp functions

you can make it try to connect and if it's rejected display a certain thing or if it's accepted, display a different thing

whatever host you use has to have the ftp functions enabled.

yep

download the .chm version so you don't have to use the online version

plus the chm is fully searchable, etc, also

just use the ftp_connect() function in php, it returns false if it cant connect.

yeah but with all the other ftp functions, you can do file lists, etc
