from what i hear a .htaccess / .htpasswd are the best.... uh i think u have to use both..... put it in the dir u want to protect and the files.... and when u go .com/protect it will have a popupp asking for name and password......

to add people i think u have to manualy add the line to the .htaccess/.htpasswd i donno sence im not at home i cant help much.. any one got a tutoral??

php provides authentication routines

also, what i've done with one of my sites is to have a members' area that asks for a login id/password, then php connects to an ftp and lists all the files in a certain directory, complete with filesizes.

it's all fairly easy, and i learnt everything i know about php with the php manual :ditsy:

i can't show it to you, because that would defeat the purpose of having the members' area :p
