Glossy screen covers are annoying

Recommended Posts

I see a lot of big tv's and even laptops now have a really glossy, clear glass lookin screen that makes the image look great if you are sitting in front of it and in the dark, but when there's light around, there is an incredible glare. Why would someone want this type of screen?

I have an HP ZD7000 Notebook PC with the optional screen.

I am a graphics designer, and I can say that this screen gives me the truest color and clarity for the work I do.

Obviously you have to be careful where you use it.. it wont work well outside on a picnic table at noon in July.... but indoors, with the blinds drawn, it looks great!

It's a protective screen. If you don't need to protect your device (from kids, pets, objects thrown at the screen) I would suggest taking it off. My kid already scratched the protective screen on my 61" HDTV so I'll keep it on and turn off the lights.

You have never actually used one have you? It makes the screen REALLY much easier to see.. And the picture is just unbelievable..

Here is a quick review;

Yes if your lighting is wrong - you can get a glare - change the lighting or the orientation of the screen to reduce the glare.. They work GREAT outside in direct sunlight.. Any normal screen I have used in the past has always been a pain outside..

ShawnB - no he is not talking about a protective cover.. you can not take it off ;)
