EmuZombie Veteran Posted January 19, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 19, 2005 Why oh why does Stargate SG-1 still insist on doing clips shows after all these years?... I mean come on... And why do they have to be designed to actually give some story line in them so fans wanting more to the story need to watch them?... I seriously will never understand it... And you know what? even Atlantis had a mini clip show in disguise! Whats up with that? Personally I'd rather of had 1 more less episode this season then the "Citizen Joe" episode.... but that's just me... end nerdy stargate rant Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/273419-stargate-clip-shows/ Share on other sites

KayMan2K
The reason that they have clip shows is the same reason there have been more on-world stories recently... money. The budget is stretched thin between SG-1 and Atlantis and the production team is striving to create the best stories and visual effects given the situation. Personally, I like that the clips shows progress the story line forward, incorporating some new footage. TPTB certainly understand that every fan might not like them, but it saves a lot of cash for other episodes. The special effects in Atlantis have been amazing and from what I understand Mobeis will be a killer season finale. The Atlantis episode you are referring to was not really a clip show. Yes, there were a lot of flashbacks.. but they were not very long and was not the center of the story. I do have problems with 'Letters From Pegasus' but more because it seems too much like a ST:Voy episode. I agree they are not the most exciting episodes, but usually are to save some cash for an even better episode to come... and there aren't very many. Also consider that an upcoming episode 'Threads' fits a 1hr 30min timeslot rather than the usual hour... almost a two parter :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/273419-stargate-clip-shows/#findComment-585318899 Share on other sites
Linkinfamous
'Letters from Pegasus' wasn't a clip show at all. There was at most 2-3 minutes of old footage in the entire 40 minute episode, and it was fitted in very, very, very well. (Zelenka's Czech naration of Atlantis rising....brilliant.) It was a well thought out episode. However, I have yet to watch Citizen Joe. Just pointing out that Atlantis did not 'have a mini clip show in disguise' Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/273419-stargate-clip-shows/#findComment-585319951 Share on other sites
jamend
Yeah, I hate them too. On a related note, has anyone else noticed how crappy the gun fights/choreography were in the past two seasons of SG-1 and in this season of Atlantis? Rob2687
Well I just watched "citizen joe" and I must say... It wasn't so bad for a clip show... Anyone notice the Furling / Ewok thing? :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/273419-stargate-clip-shows/#findComment-585322821 Share on other sites
