I can't try that out myself since I'm not longer running the x64 build, but I'll take your word for it :)

Would it be alright with you if I added this to my .reg file and blog post? With credit to you of course.

You can also use Squeez with full context menu integration. Squeez is a native 64bit application and can also create/extract RAR archives.

but the command pormat window supports only .zip files
why is that ?

WinRAR has natively worked with x64 for quite a few months already.
