Bold_Fortune
I thought it would be fun to have a thread for deleting some things from the registry that registry cleaners don't get around to. (Not for everybody, I know. But it could be fun for those who are into it.) I'll start it off. MUI allows each user to select the Windows language. If you're not using it, or don't have it installed, I suppose you could delete these registry keys: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\MUILanguages] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Nls\MUILanguages] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\MUILanguages] Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Delete Sp3 Updates [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3] The next time you install a Windows Critical Update the key will be recreated with the new update information. Bold_Fortune
The MenuOrder Key can hold order for things that don't even exist anymore in your Favorites and Start Menu. After deleting it, the Start Menu and Favorites will be rearranged alphabetically, except for some grouped and personalized stuff. After deleting it, the MenuOrder Key will rebuild itself as you use your Favorites and Start Menu items. You can delete MenuOrder key in the registry, here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder]
sweetemo22jd
Manually cleaning your registry is good. You can be sure on which files you will delete and which ones you will keep. But if you are not that capable of manually cleaning your registry, perhaps it would be better to get a registry cleaner to take care of the cleaning. It will make the job faster. You can get rid of your useless and corrupted files in just a small fraction of time. Just make sure that you read enough reviews before you finally purchase one.
