Over G

well i have mixed feelings about the game, i got the game expecting a ace combat clone with the 360 touch....this wasnt the case at all. Over G is a pure jet combat sim. While at first i was dissapointed the more and more i played the more i fell in love with the game. each plane is well balanced, each designed with various mission profiles in mind.

there is a slight learning curve in the control department, lol took me like 5 times to land on the carrier without crashing. but once you get the controls down and get the feel for each fighter you will quickly start busting out top gun like moves.

multiplayer is kinda cool, though i admit its difficult to get a good match going since the game is so new and not many people are aware of the game yet.

the only real place i feel kinda jewed is the gfx department, im no graphics ###### by anymeans so this doesnt bug me that much.

review score : 7/10

hmm, i was wondering about this one as well. so you're saying it's more simmish than arcadish?

very simmish, its not like ace combat where dispite what ever you are carrying you can do insane manuevers. lol the only way you can get that in over G is if you decide to only carry sidewinders and almost no fuel. the game is still fun though, it just takes some warming up to

I picked this game up a couple of days ago, but I'm going to be taking it back to see if I can get my money back.

Over G has a pretty annoying bug with achievements that cause the 360 to crash. What this basically means is that you have to run through a mission twice (the first time you complete a mission, you get the achievement but because of the crash the 360 can't save any updates to the save game which makes you have to redo it again), which may not be an issue for the easier missions, but as things get harder its a real pain.

It's got to the point now where I am totally fed up having to do the same mission twice pretty much everytime an unlock happens.

I checked forums all over the net about this issue and loads of people are pulling there hair out over it. It appears to effect Japanese, US and Euro versions of the game, so all in all theres some pretty poor testing going on out there.

Haven't had any problems with it.

I'll agree with Asahoshi - the otaku, I expected something different but the game grows on you after a few missions. One thing I'd like to have seen is more maneuverability of the aircraft and to have all (or most) of the aircraft available from the start instead of being forced to unlock them...I understand the need to have achievements but having to unlock every aircraft instead of just a few select aircraft would make for a more enjoyable game right from the beginning.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed playing Over G but the constant crashing got on my nerves. Game gave me a full refund today on it so I am not out of pocket in anyway. I am just a little disappointed that I had to give up on a game that I was enjoying.

With regards to the crashing problem, I agree it is strange that it only seems to effect certain 360's but there is more than enough people out there suffering with the lockups/crashes for it to be purely coincidence.
