.KICK
There's also something to be said about the teamwork that involves contact. The game will make use of microphone support, so you can shout commands amongst your team and keep in constant contact, and the voice recognition system and real-time lip syncing promise to keep the communication as smooth as possible, all while it actually looks like you're screaming to your team instead of just keeping a stiff face. Leave it to Epic to implement little details like that and make them shine that much more. Source This sounds awesome :D

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted July 5, 2006 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2006 Nice. Imagine somoene doing an opera scream on their mic and suddenly changing it to a Rob Zombie scream, and back again. The character model would smile, frown, smile, and finally frown.

icecaveman
^Actually this isn't new technology at all... Similar thing was used for Rainbow Six 3 something on the Xbox/PS2
nexx
How the hell is this technically possible.. The Unreal 2 engine has lip sync, 3D voice chat, and apparently voice recognition (I've never seen it in action though). They've just combined them all together with Unreal Engine 3 :)

They've just combined them all together with Unreal Engine 3 :) and the voice recognition is actually pretty good :) works well :) my mom would constantly find me yelling commands to my "Alpha One" team member LOL
Pc_Madness
Voice Recognition I was refering to. Do you have to train it first? Or does it pick it all up straight away? :o
