So I've been running Ubuntu in a VMWare Workstation instance for the last 2 weeks. It's been great so far. I have to say the usability is a lot better than I thought it would be, although there is some ramp up time (getting codecs, etc working). I'm trying to slowly wean myself away from Windows (perhaps a matter of time?) and it's been a pretty nice experience so far (and nicer still once I figure out how to upgrade to GNOME 2.16).

So here's a total n00b question if there ever was one: How do you create a folder shortcut on the desktop? I've tried to create a "Folder" type launcher on the desktop, but entering the path in the "Command" field in the "Create Launcher" dialog doesn't seem to work.

Help? :)

Create a launcher and and put the folder in the box 'command' prefixed by 'nautilus'

e.g. to open the /tmp folder, the command would be 'nautilus /tmp'
