wilfried
Hello, I want to try Linux :) I am gonna make a partition for it. I'd like it to be invisible to WinXP. To boot into Linux I want to use a disk NOT a boot loader, or dual boot app. How should I go about that? Any tutorial anywhere? Thanks for any help. sd_ba2271
Well for starters you could try a 3rd party disc partitioning tool, such as PartitionMagic to create linux partitions on your machine. Then just install linux, create a start disc, and don't install a bootloader. I can't remember if mandrake gives you the option to not install lilo or grub. AGMW
Yep sd is on the money. And don't worry; Windows should not be able to see the Linux partition at all.
wilfried
Cool :) So I d/l Mandrake last night. I saw on the documentation that I should go with "advanced" install rather than the "recomended". Then it should prompt me to not install a boot loader, and then again ask me to make a boot disk. Right? How big should the partition be? It will be just a try out... XP is still my main OS. Thanks
Clone5k
3gb or so should be plenty. I'd like it to be invisible to WinXP. Windows doesn't have support for linux filesystems so the drive / partition won't show up in Windows.
