ReAnimation
Sony has released another firmware update for the PSP today bringing the O/S up to version 3.02. I spotted the update on www.yourpsp.com but its also available via the network update option in the XMB. No new features are added, it's just a security update. HannibalSmith
does anyone know just how many Firmware updates sony have released for the PSP? I dont want to be constantly updating my PS3. Just an idea Sony, how about writing the code properly in the first place?

Just an idea Sony, how about writing the code properly in the first place? It?s not so much a case of writing the code properly. There is a really big homebrew scene with the PSP which Sony does like. When one of the PSP firmware cracking groups finds an exploit in the latest firmware build Sony quickly releases a new firmware revision to close the hole. Think of it like Microsofts monthly Windows XP security patches, only released a bit faster once a hole is found (and no that was not a dig at Microsoft). HannibalSmith
the difference being that i dont HAVE to update my PC constantly if i dont want to and i can still play the latest games without having to do it, its not forced upon me like it is with the PSP besides, you'd think after countless updates they'd have got the exploits sorted out by now, if they are fixing a hole that can be exploited everytime just how poorly was the firmware in the first place? If you want to download software from the Microsoft site youre forced to validate if you have a genuine Windows.. Like the consoles - if you want to play the new games, you have to update.. You dont have to update _all the time_ if youre playing offline - only when you buy a completely new game which requires you to update it.. And all of those updates are good - they often include small bug fixes and features..

How difficult is it for you to wait 2 minutes for the firmware to download and install? What is it with people complaining about fixes anyways? Some of you people act like you would prefer to have the bugs

mufdvr3669
Why should it have bugs anyway? It shouldn't. Which console or operating system doesn't.
MGS4-SS
Why should it have bugs anyway? The same reason as of why WinXP has bugs.
AdverseDeviant
yall are complaining about bugs in the psp but the only thing this 'upgrade' fixes is: * A security patch has been added to address security vulnerabilities in the system software i.e. kill home brew from working. not really a bug.... Just an idea Sony, how about writing the code properly in the first place? by my count 16 if you add in the leaked 1.00 Beta update or 15 if you dont. they are as follows 1.00 (Dev update(Beta)) 1.50 - minor just more security, it patched homebrew 1.51 - minor just more security, it patched homebrew 1.52 - minor just more security, it patched homebrew 2.00 - Major had some nice features, new codecs and web browser 2.01 - Minor update, patched an exploit which allowed you to downgrade to 1.50 2.50 | 2.60 | Cant remember anything good in these updates apart from to patch it so no more homebrew 2.70 | there were little things like RSS feeeds mp3+vid releases, new codes and libraries for future addons 2.71 | like the camera etc and gps, also the 4gb limit was removed in this update so MS of 4GB+ can be 2.80 | Used. Other than that they released demos of games which required you to update to play them. 2.81 | Im really thinking hard i cant remember what else is released in this period that was good. 2.82 | 3.00 Major....... PSP-PS3, PS1 Emulator, more security 3.01 - more security 3.02 - more security
