faraway.
I can't believe that no one is talking about this movie. I saw the trailer and was amazed. Synopsis: "PAN'S LABYRINTH is a fanciful and chilling story set against the backdrop of a fascist regime in 1944 rural Spain. The film centers on Ofelia, a lonely and dreamy child living with her mother and adoptive father; a military officer tasked with ridding the area of rebels. In her loneliness, Ofelia creates a world filled with fantastical creatures and secret destinies. With post-war repression at its height, Ofelia must come to terms with her world through a fable of her own creation." It has a 99% on Rottentomatoes.com with 69 Reviews. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/pans_labyrinth/ The movie basically looks like Alice in Wonderland for adults and many critics agree. I hear there are some very disgusting scenes in this movie, scary ones as well. _neutrino Veteran Posted December 31, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 31, 2006 this movie is simply amazing i watched it about six or seven times already and it always gets better. although i have to say that if you are going to see the movie based on the Trailer and not information you read on the site you will be very disappointed. because it is not a fairy tale it is a war movie about a spanish civil war. just as a heads up to people. the fairy tales parts come in only when the main character is on the screen. Hurmoth
I suspect that this will be a fantastic horror film, but unfortunately it is only in limited release. I haven't heard a date for a wide release yet :( BLOODY-DISGUSTING gave it the movie of the year award: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/7898, giving the film 5 out 5 stars. sanctified Veteran Posted January 1, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 1, 2007 I suspect that this will be a fantastic horror film, but unfortunately it is only in limited release. I haven't heard a date for a wide release yet :( BLOODY-DISGUSTING gave it the movie of the year award: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/7898, giving the film 5 out 5 stars. Its no horror. And of course this move its awesome, one of the best movie in the year. And the reason nobody here is talking about it is: 1.- Its not a Hollywoodesque movie 2.- Its directed by a mexican (Three of the four best movies this year are directed by mexicans, its time people start to show the respect we deserve) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/525543-pans-labyrinth/#findComment-588182541 Share on other sites

tiagosilva29
Don't get me wrong, but I didn't liked a lot of Hellboy, so this movie has to be really good! From what I saw in the website, it does look interesting. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/525543-pans-labyrinth/#findComment-588182929 Share on other sites

Xerxes
There was another (much older) movie like this too, called "The Labyrinth" I think it followed a similar story line to this. I remember there was this huge room it had with the upside down stairs and so forth, really cool movie I loved it when I was a kid :p :) I wounder if the director was inspired by that movie or whether it's just a coincidence? either way does sound good  EDIT: I just found it on IMDb, it's nothing like it :p completely different story  oh well, this one does sound good though :) Edited January 1, 2007 by Xerxes Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/525543-pans-labyrinth/#findComment-588183383 Share on other sites
Lawrens
Yea it's more of a drama/thriller, though the movie got a really high rating, it's best if you walk in without knowing what to expect, and just watch it, it as the critic says, a great fairytale for grownups. It's pretty simplisitc but I found it great and I was hooked to it =) One of my favorite movie so far. Syanide
It's classified under Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller, & War. It's probably classified more under Fantasy, but still listed under horror. It's really morbid, the scenography, so that's why some people might put it in that category. And I watched it shortly after it got released. Next to Babel and The Departed, my fav movie of 06.
