radioboy
Does anyone know any FAST mirrors for slackware? I'm trying to download the 8.0 image (8.1 comes w/ KDE3 which my 120mhz lappy cant handle) and the speed on the servers that have it is just awful... anyone have a decent pipe? DrunkenMaster
Sure, if you havent already Slack Mirrors check here since these are the most current slackware mirror sites. Depending on where you live and your connection there are some decent mirrors here: carroll.cac.psu.edu distro.ibiblio.org ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu ftp.biochem.uthscsa.edu ftp.cs.columbia.edu personnally, I'm finding the biochem one to be the fastest and most reliable to date followed closely by ibiblio. If you live in Ontario/Quebec your best pipe is definately ryerson but the FTP server is only up late at night ( sometimes, if you're lucky). The HTTP mirror is great if you only want a few files. OH, definately don't install KDE or GNOME on that laptop. Get windowmaker or something w/ a smaller profile.
