paganinio
First, we must understand that the computer screens you see on CSI: Miami don't exist in real life. Proof: What operating system does CSI: Miami use?Their computer screens look like video games(very colorful, animation-packed, and way more intelligent than real-life computers). What OS is it, and why don't they just use Windows? In The Wire, another police drama series, the police officers do use Windows XP. I'm thinking, did the CSI: Miami production crew fake the computer screens? Additional Details 5 days ago Also, when they say they're going to visit a website, they don't use IE or Opera or Firefox. They use another video-game-like application, and the webpage obviously isn't written in HTML. Does it even exist? Answers: well, they don't want to show windows because they would have to pay windows royalties. apple, on the other hand, seems to want everyone to use their stuff in movies. its easier to just make an animation and show them typing the whole time, which is unrealistic as you would be mousing around in any os i've ever used. so yes, in all movies and shows, they fake computer screens. Second, is there a way we can make our own computer screens look like that?

stranded
the operating system in the show is probably a bunch of few animations played on full screen. lol
Cyplex
I would think 99% of the screens are flash based.
chconline Veteran Posted September 4, 2007 Veteran Share Posted September 4, 2007 I would think 99% of the screens are flash based. They are, so actors won't make mistakes.

micro
yea, but i have also heard that some screens are actually a customized verson of a windows blinds theme, one of the main theme makers said he has been approached many times to create a custom GUI for a specific movie scene. i doubt ill find it but ill look for it. Island Dog
WindowBlinds skins have been used in movies before, but the screens I see on CSI seem more like a desktop environment than just a theme. Is there a specific screenshot that is trying to be emulated?
kututay
I don't know what they are using OS but I know they are using Aspex Corporation's software. I saw a episode, It was writing on the computer screen. I Love CSI: Miami :))) <
