Recommended Posts

Hi, this is my first post.

My cousin told me that he system doesn't load Windows XP it shows message.

Isass.exe - unable to locate component

Uxtheme.dll is failed to start. Reinstall the application.

-----------------------------

I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up task manager, i click on the new task and typed 'cmd'.

At cmd prompt,

Change to drive to from 'c' to 'e' got into the i386 folder and then tried to copy the Uxtheme.dll from the cd to system32 folder in 'c'.

When i did this i got an error message saying

The system cannot find the file specified

-------------------------------

The file does exist in the windows xp cd. but it is missing in system32 in 'c'.

-----------------------------------------------

Please tell me why i'am not able to copy the Uxtheme.dll that is present in the cd to the system32 folder.

The above procedure was got from a googled forum. There it shows the problem was solved by copying the uxtheme.dll from windows xp cd to system32 folder. but here is shows '' the system cannot find the file specified'

--------------------------------------------

Please help.

Thanks

Hello karthikeyan.M,

Insert the Windows XP CD and bring up the command prompt. Once it's up, type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. It might not fix the problem but it's definitely worth a try. (Y)

The files in XP CD are compressed, so you'll need to expand (uncompress) the file,

expand e:\i386\uxtheme.dl_ c:\windows\system32\uxtheme.dll

The "sfc /scannow" command should also restore this file.
