Why would he do such a thing if he wants to just get rid of the dead weight and start afresh?

I've just gone through a patch of actually logging into my hotmail account. Emailing whoever I had on their.

Blocking & deleting everyone, (one by one) and then just re- adding whoever replied back to my email.

Had about 160 contacts on there. Didnt take long I suppose.

Well there is not tool that can do it. There may be a quick way via online-based hotmail but WindowsLiveMessenger (msn messenger) can't or doesn't have a tool to do it.

There was a way to do this... but now you just have to go to your hotmail and click close account then wait for like 2-3 months and your mailbox and contact list will get cleared and the best way to check if this has happened is add your old address to a new one and accept then keep signing into the new one and checking until your old add disappears from your new ones list that means the contact list got cleared out and you can log in again to start afresh.

Otherwise I know there was a program called list manager which let you manually clean out people on your contact list that deleted you it also deleted them from the allow/block list and if you cleaned out everyone from your account this way so you have 0 contacts but when you log in through msn again you'll get loads of pop-ups from people who didn't delete you from their list but you deleted them asking you to accept the add.

I did look this up on google before and came across this guy who lost all his contacts on msn because he synced his account in outlook and somehow it cleared his whole address book and he couldn't get it back so that's your only quick hope...

I closed it now and they said,
Your e-mail address is reserved for 120 days after closing your account. After that time, it may become available for other people to use.

Actually guys there is a simple way to do this. Using any version of Messenger Plus! or Messenger Plus! Live, click on the icon in your contact list, and then click on "Contact List Cleanup". The tool is VERY helpful, and works flawlessly. I've used it to monitor who still has me on their contact list, and who I don't ever talk to.

All you need to do is highlight all of your contacts and hit delete. However, it may or may not take it a few seconds or minutes depending on the amount of contacts you're deleting.

Thanks - I just did that on an old account of mine.
The only thing I wish WLM would do, is not tell you about who's added you to their list. It's really annoying being reminded of people who have you still on their contact list, and you don't speak to, and also idiots who have added you as spam (which has happened once or twice in the past). I wish all traces of these addresses could be removed off accounts. Does this annoy anyone else but me?

Just do what I said and close the account, then after a set amount of time your account will get cleaned up meaning your address will get wiped from the contact list of everyone who added it (it'll just vanish) and when you sign back in it will be as if you registered a brand new account.
