lsdn
How can I download the Windows 2003 server launch event ? It is a streaming media. I tried with ASF recorder and HiNet recorder and nothing..... .Kompressor
I think when you actually watch it online it downloads to your cache. then you can take it out of the folder if you like. :)
Squirrelington
it has like a small lil ram cache wthat gets overwritten as its seen and the buffer gets refilled with new data of only a few seconds ahead usually for 'streaming' media. there was this one program i think it was streambox vcr, it'd record from asf files that streamed but i never got the video to work quite right. you could try to find it,.. .Kompressor
oh yes i forgot...it's being served with mediaplayer 9 technology that serves a direct stream continously.
Squirrelington
well even Windows Media Codec V8 streaming media works that way, its just the nature of streaming media. How media that is downloaded or opened from location(not in asf(Audio/video Streaming File) format) gets cached and can be viewed again via the temporary folder it was automatically placed in

lsdn
I tried with Streambox VCR and haven't succeeded in downloading the file to my hard drive. If somebody finds a way to download it can he/she put it on a server for a normal download (not streaming)...
John Veteran Posted April 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted April 26, 2003 i think that wms (windows media services) has been improved and is now more careful about the clients it sends media files to. i'm not sure if any of these tools will still work, unless the adminstrator of the server is a real idiot, because it's secure by default. i've played with it, and i think you would have to purposely turn something off to let the files off of the server.
