testroom_9
hi everyone, i use my PC as a tv/ media center and it is connected from the lounge to a screen in the bedroom via a long VGA cable... i use a wireless xbox 360 controller as a remote for mouse and other useful buttons. basically the screen is connected to the secondary output on thegfx and as such (i use extended desktop not clone) there are no buttons to controll shutdown etc.. as i fall asleep (too) often and leave the thing running mainly because i cant be bothered to go and turn the box off i wanted to know if there was a way to create a desktop icon that would shut down the PCwith a double click? or a button i could just map to the remote to do this? thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/810660-tweak-help-windows-7-shutdown-button/ Share on other sites

+Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted August 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted August 13, 2009 Create a shortcut to "shutdown -f -t:5" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/810660-tweak-help-windows-7-shutdown-button/#findComment-591429452 Share on other sites
sw1tch..
Open notepad and type in "shutdown -f" (no quotes) and save as shutdown.bat to the desktop. Once you double click this it will run the batch file and shutdown your machine. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted August 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted August 13, 2009 There's no need for a bat, a shortcut will do the job just fine, and then can have a custom icon.
