I thought it'd be a good idea to start building a list of existing visual styles for Windows 7 whether they are located here on these forums or sites like deviantart.com. At the moment it is hard to find some visual styles and some made for Windows 7 were designed for pre-RTM builds which no longer work correctly. So anyone wanting to contribute, just post a link/name of the visual style, any links to screen shots, whether it's a Windows 7 Basic VS (non-Aero) or an Aero-based VS, and if it's 32 bit/64 bit compatible (try using the format used in the list below if possible. I'll try updating this list frequently. Also, if anyone notices any errors in this list, let me know and I'll fix it.

Note: To use these custom themes (visual styles), you must patch your uxtheme.dll file. You can find a tool to do that here.

Note #2: Any themes listed as only 32 bit or 64 bit compatible means that certain modified files (such as explorer.exe, system dlls, etc..) only work in 32 or 64 bit. The styles themselves should work regardless (at least as far as I know, though some themes rely more heavily on these modified files more than others).

Note #3: This list has gotten too big so I am splitting the list into multiple posts. More themes and Aero basic themes are listed in an separate post linked below.

Shame Aero Diamond don't work.

Did you patch *all* the required files? (32-bit requires patching two files, while 64-bit requires three files be patched)

I'm running Ka7ana Stealth without issues (7 RTM x64).

Just added Aero Diamond, too.

Yes; it works in Windows 7 RTM (running it in 7 x64 RTM right now). I've added Aero Diamond and Ka7ana Stealth to my Theme set.

I've tried getting to work a few times but each time exploer fails to load so I have to run system restore from the installation disc.

I had the same issue myself with the Aero Diamond theme. Other people don't seem to have the problem which is why I decided to keep it on the list. Though it seems to happen when messing with the color personalization options (and after messing with those options you can't access them again, some weird error will occur). I also had to do a system restore to just before I patched my uxtheme.dll file. So you're not the only person with this problem xD

since this post is about visuals, does anyone know which file I need to edit to chnage look of the bar that is in the image.

I cannot find the image for that anywhere.

You could try asking the author of this visual style - he managed to change it in his.

      I called it last year that they wouldn't end support when they said there would. There are too many people still on Windows 10 waiting for something better to upgrade to and 11 ain't it! The recent promises of fixing Windows 11's many problems is nice, but unless they deliver on those promises in a big way then I expect customers will still want to stick with 10.

      Full ACK. I went too far adressing your post specifically. And as you said, it up to us customers as participant of the market dynamic as it happens to decide whether we spend our money on a product or not. The responsibility is to the company. In case of this price hike one could assume that MS is expecting or even starting to see a new interest in XBox hardware so they want to avoid losses per unit sold. I find it fair enough that they granted a period in which everyone interested could grab a unit for the current price (Amazon.de has a reliable stock of XBox Series X digital, which I bought last December after having sold my day one Series X a year ago). It is not that they cash up their customers starting on Monday. Cheers and let's cling to our perfectly fine hardware as long as we deem it worthy in relation to purchasing something new!

      Not surprising at all. Apple got three months worth of marketing hype with the Macbook Neo's incredible low launch price. They have sowed the idea that the Neo is the best value laptop and that idea will last for years even though the value is no longer there. They do this every five years or so with a single new product that is amazing value which distracts from the rest of their products being horrendously overpriced.
