Should I get a loud car horn

Recommended Posts

Get the old Pranksta Gangsta horn from the 1930's.....the Awoooooga Horn. LMFAO!! had an Uncle who would put one in all his cars just to frighten people on the road when overtaking.. ROFL

Did any of you upgrade your car horn to something more loud and manly? I'm thinking of getting a train horn :ninja:

Substituting your car horn to sound bigger and more bad isn't a sign of manliness, it's a sign your lacking in your manliness.

The more you flaunt, the more you lack.

As far as train horns on cars, they're illegal in most countries and in like, 43 states.

I always found the finger to work pretty well. On a bike (motorcycle) there's nothing blocking their view of it.
except on your bike, the reason you are most likley honking, is because they dont see you. flipping them off wont do crap. you NEED to honk on your bike much more then a car

aftermarket mufflers are illegal in canada Revvo? that sucks :( here you can put them as long as they are under 100dB at 1 foot from the bike. most mufflers are in that limit with no problem

One of my uncles used to have awoogaa horn or whatever it's called.

My grandpa has an air horn with a slide control, so he can control the air pressure variably on the fly. He can make it sound just like a train. Used to scare the hell out of people all the time.

Too bad the compressor died years ago and he can't find one that works like the old one.

I installed a dual air horn on a friend's 84 Ford Escort long ago. We had a lot of fun with that one. No one expects such a massive blast to come from a tiny beater like that.

In reply to the OP, yes. Most definitely you should get a very loud horn. It's just plain fun.

Just don't replace your factory horn with it. Get a dedicated switch.

Yeah, I rarely use mine. If I want someone's attention I'll just rev the engine  Looks fun though to have a loud ass horn.

I'm saying most but yeah, we have a decibel limit too, I just forgot the amount. Cops don't care though, you could have a legal Akrapovic pipe on your motorcycle and still get ticketed for being "loud".

As long as your car doesn't look like rice, you're safe which is good because rice style suck.

No, it's only really Quebec that has a problem with cops and exhausts, the rest of the country doesn't really care. I once got pulled over when I was driving my truck with an original and tuned 440 six pack that had dual 3 inch pipes and 2 mufflers per pipe (it was still loud as hell). The cop just shone his flashlight under the truck and saw they were new mufflers and let me go.

We gave a legal limit of what the tip can be. Can't remember what right now though.

I wouldn't want to change the horn on my Civic, but if I did, I'd probably use that Dukes of Hazzard one, LOL! :D

there's a proper chrome one you mount on the roof somewhere too, but I can't see it during a quick search

somebody in my road has one of those, no idea who or which car.....i've heard it loads of times, but was always doing something so couldn't run and see :(

personally i want police lights :) that would help scare those stupid motorists, instead of them swearing at you when THEY DO WRONG!

I was shocked when I first used the horn on my bora - especially compared to my golf (which is essentially the same car). They made me jump.

However, I tend to never use my horn. I may flash my lights occasionally, but I find the horn a bit too aggressive. I do toot it to say hi sometimes tho!

    • Hello, Interesting. I suspect memory and storage costs have slowed the rollout of Windows 11-compatible hardware for some customers. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Especially considering their console sales have fallen double digits YOY for 4 years, and no one is buying them. If they were losing $50 on every console, losing 15K a year is no big deal to them
    • Counter-point: if someone comes up with a new way of doing things in their homeplace, should they be offered the options of being bought out by a higher-grossing competitor or suffer their tech to be taken over by force? Because those are the options these days when it comes to the big-stakes companies. Don't get me wrong, the DMA has its flaws. All regulations do. But at the moment with Google, Microsoft, Meta etc. they need to be told to back off to prevent a monopoly that would weaken whatever industry they work in. It's the understanding that money doesn't get you anything that you want, and big-tech need to understand that.
