Nod32 4.0 lets you create a bootable scanner USB / CD

Recommended Posts

For the past couple of days I have been looking for anyone that had created a plug-in for bartpe that would allow me to scan with nod32 4.0 in a bartpe environment. I looked and looked and looked some more. All I found was nod32 2.7. Then I just happen to do the right Google search. As it turns out, Nod32 4.0 includes a feature which lets you make your own recovery cd (a.k.a bootable scanner).

You need to have the Windows Alk 6.0 installed. It boots into a vista like environment. During the build it includes your user name and password directly onto the media. You can burn a CD or tell it to put it right onto a thumbstick.

Now this may already be common knowledge for most you . But I sure as heck didn't know about it and I wish I had. I figure it makes a lot more sense to virus check a customer's computer using this type of bootable virus scanner. That way root kits have a better chance of being picked up, as well as the malware that is running on the system.

Enjoy

This is a very nice feature to have with an anti virus. I know that Avast has a boot version as well (not provided for free) however, there is also an ability to just do a scan boot. The best part of being able to use boot scan you can scan system files since they are not currently in use.

Hello,

I believe the next version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus (or ESET Smart Security), v4.2, which is currently in beta test, will be able to use the slightly newer Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows 7 to make ESET SysRescue discs.

    • You could disable this "functionality/feature/whatever" with 2 registry keys, ages ago.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
