problems with Shopto.net

Recommended Posts

Ok so on the 24th March i ordered a Wii motion plus dongle thing and paid for recorded delivery, it never turned up so I waited 2 weeks before i could claim form shopto. now a few days after i ordered my wii motion plus my card got cloaned, so i rang the bank and cancelled the card.

Now on the 7th April shopto sent a refund automatilly to my cancelled card (only discovered this when the refund didnt show after 4 days) because my card got cancelled it was totally shut down, and a new card was issued.

Shopto.net are now unwilling to refund me to my active and valid card as they say the bank has their money, so they wont refund me.

I have copies of all bankstatments showing the refund has never hit my account, and also an email from shopto.net showung that they refunded to my cancelled card

Shopto are totally fobbing me off, and i now have to wait till the 24th April before i have to claim via the bank to get my money back

shopto have relly ****ed me off recently its unreal

I don't know what the rules are on this one, but it would seem a bit unfair on ShopTo if they had to refund you twice because you didn't realise your card had been cloned.

so am i suppost to ring up all companys when i have a card cloaned telling them this just incase they have to refund me? it still stands that they refunded to a dead card, so im not getting my refund.

I had this problem a few years ago with another company and they where able to refund to another card without any problems, shopto are just dragging their arses. Ive just got off the phone with Trading Standards and they agree that I have a case.

I don't know what the rules are on this one, but it would seem a bit unfair on ShopTo if they had to refund you twice because you didn't realise your card had been cloned.

Considering that a) the card had been cancelled at that point, meaning that the money never actually made it onto a card and b) it was shopto's fault that the card was cloned in the first place, it is perfectly fair that they should have to ensure the refund is received.

They've had security issues for years and never do anything about it.

ShopTo have quite ignorant staff. I don't intend to use them again, that's for sure. I bought about 9 items off them without issue but on my 10th I accidentally had a parcel delivered to my billing address instead of where I actually wanted it to go. I can't actually get anything from my billing address since.. well.. I'm not welcome there. I'm assuming what I've purchased has been destroyed.

So, about 10 seconds after confirming my order I sent them a message through their website and emailed them too. The parcel got delivered to my billing address after all, no response.

It's been about a month since the incident and I've still not even had so much as a 'Unfortunatley it was sent to your billing address.' type message. So they can forget it.

im pretty sure even if the card is cancelled, the refund can still take place, because, when you use your card sometimes the amount is earmarked for a few days,(say go to a pay @ pump petrol station), the amount will be on the card, even if you ring up and get it blocked a day later, it will still be on there and payments can still be recredited to an old card.

    • Google Finance is now out of beta with improved portfolio tracking and a new Android app by Karthik Mudaliar Google is taking its redesigned Google Finance experience out of beta and adding several new features, including portfolio tracking, scheduled market briefings, and a dedicated Android app. The company says the updates are beginning to roll out globally this week, while an iOS app is planned for later in 2026. The most notable addition is the new portfolio feature. Instead of entering every investment manually, users can upload a screenshot, CSV file, or PDF containing their holdings. They can also tell Google Finance what they own using natural language, such as the number of shares held in a particular company or fund. Google Finance will then place those investments into a dashboard showing performance, asset allocation, concentration risk, and the holdings responsible for the biggest gains or losses. Existing portfolios created with the older version of Google Finance should appear automatically. The built-in AI research panel can use the portfolio as context when answering questions. For example, users can ask which sectors are underrepresented or how their fixed-income allocation could affect long-term growth. Google says portfolio data will remain private and that uploaded files and images will not be retained. Users will also be able to edit or delete their portfolio information after it has been imported. Google Finance is also getting scheduled tasks. These let users request recurring reports such as a daily summary of overnight cryptocurrency movements or a weekly update about newly announced initial public offerings. There is also a new Google Finance app for Android. It includes watchlists, interactive charts, real-time market data, a live news feed, and the same AI research panel available on the web. Google has been gradually expanding the AI-powered Finance redesign since it first entered testing. In April, the experience was expanded to more than 100 countries, bringing its research tools, advanced charts, and market news to a much larger audience. That was followed by a wider European rollout in May, which added features including live earnings calls, transcripts, and AI-generated summaries. The ability to import an entire portfolio from a screenshot or document should make Google Finance considerably easier to set up. However, Android users will have to wait for feature parity with the web version, and Google has yet to say exactly when the iOS app will arrive.
