ilev
Other than IE9 and Firefox 3.7, Chromium 6 does not include hardware acceleration as of now and clearly lacks horsepower in the graphics department. Where IE9 PP2 and Firefox 3.7a5 deliver smooth animations, we see Google crawl to a halt. However, Google may have squeezed more JavaScript performance out of Chrome. Chromium 6.0.399.0 raced through SunSpider in 329.4 ms on our test system, down from 345.6 ms of the current Chrome 5 Beta. The Google V8 benchmark score climbed from 4828 to 4936 and Celtic Kane showed an identical performance of 527 points. While Chromium 6 was consistently faster than Chrome 5 we take these results with a grain of salt as a realistic margin of error suggests that version 6 and version 5 play on a similar level. http://www.conceivablytech.com/882/products/first-look-google-releases-chrome-6-preview/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/899386-first-look-google-releases-chrome-6-preview/ Share on other sites
Growled Member Posted May 8, 2010 Member Share Posted May 8, 2010 Google is going to start getting behind if they don't give Chrome hardware acceleration. ObiWanToby
Google is going to start getting behind if they don't give Chrome hardware acceleration. Agreed. We need some direct write love on Windows. Readability is the single most important issue with web browsers.
